Coaching, guidance and training for product leaders
I coach aspiring, new, or existing product leaders in all industries. I coach my clients to become more impactful in their product leadership role. I help them adopt, where applicable, a product mindset, new perspectives on stakeholder engagement and help them and their team to shift focus from output to outcome. As a coach, I combine over 20 years of product leadership experience with more than 4 years of professional coaching experience.
You might find yourself in a growing organisation, or you have recently changed from a non-product-focused role to a product leadership role, or you have your eye on a product leadership position. You may want to develop your leadership skills, help your team to grow, and build your stakeholder engagement.
Product leadership coaching
My offer as a product leadership coach is firstly to help you reflect on perspectives and intentions, bringing you clarity and focus. Secondly, to offer guidance on high-level product management models. And thirdly, to train you to become a more effective leader. I help you devise a strategy for your personal professional offer, improving your focus and chances for creating success. The outcome is that you can put that strategy into practice, every day.
My job is to actively listen to you: probing you to reflect, allowing you to find answers, helping you to look at the strategic view and reframe it. I help you turn ambiguity into clarity and focus for you and your team(s), and that wil help you build trust, engagement and accountability with all stakeholders.
What helps is that as my client, you can talk about a specific challenge and use the language and terminology that you’re used to. Without having to explain the business context, because I know product leadership type of roles first-hand. I understand the business challenges and uncertainties, high pressure and organisational dynamics.
Coaching philosophy
My coaching philosophy centres on your way of being: how you think, speak, feel and hold yourself determine how you experience a situation. This in turn determines how you will act. My coaching approach: I help you find ways to change your perception of situations so they match with your intentions. My approach is empowering and tailored. My drive is to help people grow.
Outcomes from product leadership coaching
My clients come out with focus on improving their impact, finding ways to delegate effectively while at the same time remain aware of what is going on and creating the success they want. They implement leadership and product management practices. They lead with an aligned product strategy and product roadmaps. These help them to communicate expectations and turning those into agreements and commitments as part of their daily work habits. They have helped their teams take ownership, develop effective product management practices such as product discovery, and take data-driven decisions. And they feel confident in their ability to build trust, engagement and accountability with all stakeholders.

“The coaching sessions with Erik have helped me to focus and prioritize my personal development. I've been inspired to reflect and find improvement areas in the way I work and in my skill set. He has asked the right questions to give a different perspec tive and sometimes he gave suggestions on the next steps to help me further develop as a leader and colleague.”
- Product Manager
“I find Erik’s though-provoking insights and questions very challenging and incredibly useful, while at the same time enabling to think radically different in a variety of situations. His focus on the essence of the discussion and the context has also been hugely beneficial for me, focussing on 3 topics / concepts only for my next actions.”
- First-time manager
“Our sessions focused on practical topics that closely aligned with my daily work challenges, and as a result I could immediately and effectively apply what I learnt. I benefited from the structured guidance and dedicated space for reflection. This encouraged me to become aware of my ways of working and provided an opportunity for growth.”
